Middle-age, white-collar, professional black gay man here. I watched this video with a fascination akin to a dog moving his head from side to side. On the one hand, my sexuality notwithstanding, there is a part of me that can relate to having once been a younger man from a marginal background who had a tough time getting dates with women (before I accepted that I was gay). On the other hand, I don't totally understand why you, a former model, wouldn't be a catch given your level of education and the industry you work in (I'm not in tech or a longtime San Francisco Bay resident, so maybe that's why). Would your chances with black women at least improve if you relocated to one of the black meccas with a greater abundance of college-educated, upwardly mobile black professionals - say, Atlanta, Houston, the DMV, or the Durham or Charlotte metro areas? I'm inclined to think your chances would improve (not just with black women) because you would be probably perceived differently.

After living in a city that I hated for 3 years, I realized that I can't passively wait for things to happen. As a child, I would go visit my grandparents in rural Arkansas. I had so much fun despite there not being any tourist attractions.

damnn, and now it's like $1K+, for roaches, a tiny space, and no bathroom. Here in Eastern Canada, I pay $700 CAD or $500 US for a full apartment with one bedroom. It's clean, and of decent quality. But the thing is that I don't really like the city I live in, doesn't fit me, bad weather, not much stuff to see, and the taxes are high. My dream is to move to California some day. (very unattainable for now though)

For the job market; I'm thinking that for a CS major, SOMETHING in the City "should" hire you. Even female, "black" or "brown," and lesbian. Not so much anywhere else in this godforsaken state. I have also at times in my life, been hired by the SFUSD as a maths teacher whereas the rest of this godforsaken state would just ignore me for that, too. So there's that. OK you can't LIVE in or anywhere near the City on a SFUSD teacher's salary and I would presume the same would apply to a "part-time adjunct" at SFSU or CCSF, either, but at least that means there's things there in the City that WILL give me the time of day.

What BS. The homeless problem in the Tenderloin district isn’t because of the high cost of housing. The problem in that area is mental illness and drug abuse. Yes, housing in SF is expense but the problem in the Tenderloin district is addiction and mental illness.

I booked for 2 nights, and I'm glad I didn't have to stay there any further. When I saw a mega roach in the shower section the final morning I was there, I was all too happy to bounce. Never again.

Hey. I just discovered your channel. I was born in September of 1987, and also grew up in the bay area as a black kid (Mountain View) largely with just my mom, and grandmother for support. I've blitzed through your other videos, and it's been a great experience as I've been able to relate to a lot of what you've had to say. I'm overseas now (Macao), but I try to come back to the bay area every couple of years. This trip down 90's nostalgia was largely the same as mine. We matched many of the same shows, and were into many of the same things at the exact same time. I had a SNES, Game Boy, and then Playstation later on (been on the Sony train ever since). Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, and Cartoon Network were staples of my youth when we finally got cable in the middle of the decade. Star Trek, and Unsolved Mysteries mesmerized me. Toonami/Adult Swim towards the end of the decade, and into the 2000s was my bread, and butter. Same with comic book superheroes, and 90s anime which I still love today. I was even into WWF for a short while circa '99 as crazy as that was. Great times. Thanks for putting this up. I'll be sure to follow you on IG, and see what else you have coming down the pipeline. Cool that you live in San Francisco. I was there for a few years myself about 15 years ago. City was awesome then. Go Giants, 49ers, and Warriors. Cheers.
